      This course is designed for health care professionals whose responsibilities require proficiency in treating cardiac emergencies. This course will be taught via lectures with questions and answers, skills stations, and skills testing and review. It is designed for all medical specialties which are required to have ACLS training as a condition of hospital privileges, and/or employment. You will be expected to demonstrate competence in CPR as part of successful ACLS Provider course completion. Topics covered are based on the new 2010 AHA Guidelines for Emergency Cardiovascular Care and include: Respiratory Arrest, Refractory VF/Pulseless VT, PEA, Asystole, Acute Coronary Syndromes, Bradycardia, TachycardiaStable and Unstable, Stroke, Immediate Post-Cardiac Arrest Care, and Team Resuscitation Concept.

   ACLS - RenewalTell a Friend!
 
      This course is designed for health care professionals who have previously completed the ACLS provider course. All AHA cards are valid for two years to the last day of the month in which the card was issued. You may renew your ACLS status by attending a renewal course or attending both days of the two-day provider course. Persons whose ACLS card is expired by less than 3 months may challenge a renewal course, but no remediation is provided. If you are expired, or cannot show proof of your current ACLS and BLS cards and you require remediation during skills testing, you will be required to take the two-day provider course. No provision is made for teaching CPR skills during the ACLS course. ACLS course completion does not include BLS course completion.

      Do you have a heart for those in long-term care? Then this 80-hour course is for you. Approved by the Nurse Aide Registry and Training Program of the Texas Department of Health, it is designed to introduce concepts and skills required for providing basic patient care in a long-term care facility. The curriculum also is appropriate for home health aides. Topics include human anatomy and physiology, infection control, safety, basic physical and psychological needs related to developmental stages, patient care skill and principles of nutrition. In addition to classroom learning, you experience hands-on clinical work as well. Fee: $350 (includes liability insurance coverage) / Textbook: About $65+ tax (available in the GCC Bookstore) Testing fee: Varies from $93 (written) to $106 (oral) per student. It must be paid no later than the first week of class. Location: SW / Contact hours: 80 Notes: Choose one session. A background check including criminal history will be done prior to start of class.           Safe, effective medication administration is essential to patient care. Designed for non-licensed nursing personnel employed in health care agencies licensed by the Texas Department of Health, this comprehensive course delves into the procedure for preparing and administering designed medication. It also reviews the responsibilities associated with such administrations. The program has four prerequisites that must be met without exception. You should: (1) be at least 18 years old; (2) be a registered nurse aide or unlicensed direct care staff person on the first official day of your medication aide training program; (3) work in a facility as a certified nurse aide or unlicensed direct care staff person, and have been employed in a facility for 90 days as an unlicensed direct care staff person; (4) have a high school diploma or GED.

          This course is designed for healthcare professionals whose responsibilities require proficiency in treating pediatric cardiac and respiratory emergencies. This course will be taught via lectures with questions and answers, intensive skills stations, and skills testing and review. It is designed for all medical specialties which are required to have PALS training as a condition of hospital privileges, and/or employment. You will be expected to demonstrate competence in pediatric and infant CPR as part of successful PALS Provider course completion. Topics covered are based on the new 2010 AHA Guidelines for Emergency Cardiovascular Care and include: Management of Respiratory Distress/Arrest, Witnessed arrest, Refractory VF/Pulseless VT, PEA, Asystole, Bradycardia, TachycardiaStable and Unstable, Shock, and Team Resuscitation Concept.

       PALS - RenewalTell a Friend!
     
          This course is designed for healthcare professionals who have previously completed the PALS provider course. All AHA cards are valid for two years to the last day of the month in which the card was issued. You may renew your PALS status by attending a renewal course or attending both days of the two-day provider course. Expired PALS card holders may challenge a renewal course, but no remediation is provided. If you are expired, or cannot show proof of your current PALS and BLS cards, and you require remediation during skills testing, you will be required to take the two-day provider course. No provision is made for teaching CPR skills during the PALS course. PALS course completion does not include BLS course completion.
