Using digital slides and bird song recordings, you will learn the basics of birding in a supportive environment. You will begin building your basic field skills, learning how to use your field guide and optics and employing useful identification techniques. Weather permitting, much of the class will involve practical field practice. Please arrive for the first class with your binoculars and a field guide, if you have them. Participants will learn and practice adult (infant-child, if requested prior to class) CPR and first aid skills. Students should wear comfortable clothing. The certificate is valid for two years. PVUSD employees pay materials fee and receive a 20% discount registration fee.
